Zone valves
The zone control valves are specialized units which are specifically designed to be employed in various sorts of hydronic radiant heating systems. These devices are used to control or regulate the flow of heat or hot water or steam in order to maintain constant level of temperature throughout the heating system. They are accompanied with pipes which run through numerous rooms of resident in order to carry hot water or heat from central boiler. The heat radiating out from pipes to the room is controlled with help of these units. Since supplying heat to entire house with a central boiler only can be a costly affair so most hydronic systems are divided into zones.
Basically, there are two different types of zone control units – an open valve and a closed valve in its inert position. The main difference between these two is that they are employed with distinct forms of thermostats. Both of geothermal valves are compact designs with highly qualitative metals. They are incorporated with 24 volt electronically operated motor which is further connected to the valve obstruction with a unique mechanical linkage. The internal wall of 3-Way zone valves acts as a temperature sensor that connects the temperature controller of hydronic system i.e. called as Aquastat. The motor is then connected to the thermostat from one end and with pump of heating system from other end.
The functioning of the zone valve depends on type of valve which is being used. The open valve is used for supplying the heat while closed valve is used to obstruct the flow of hot water or heat. As soon as the heating system starts functioning, the motor connected to valve supply power as well as heat to it. The zone valve therefore controls the entire system by supplying adequate amount of heat to particular zone. High quality Taco and Honeywell zone valves are not only long lasting but also enhance the overall performance and efficiency of hydronic systems.
